Torup Castle was built in the 1530s, today's appearance is from the
beginning of
the 1600s. Around the castle is a beautiful park. The castle and
surrounding
area, Bokskogen, is a popular recreation area. A predecessor to the
castle was
Askebacken, of which today the only visible remnant is a foundation. To
the castle
was a beautiful barn building. Unfortunately it was destroyed by a fire
in 2006
in which many horses were killed. They are buried in a field nearby,
where
a memorial stone is erected. The barn has been rebuilt. The castle and
the land is owned by the
municipality of Malmö.
Statarmuseet, a museum of gricultural labourers receiving payment in
kind, is
housed in a house from the 1880s. A small nice and orderly
museum. It shows agricultural workers history. It contains home, garden,
chickens, rabbits, pigs, outhouses with toilets. The cafe adds more to
the visit.
Hen house, or hunting pavilion as it is known today, is from the 1880s
and was
used to keep rabbits. A fine octagonal building which nowadays is used
as a
cafe. The magazine is a stone building from 1700's that was
used for storage. Today it houses activities with a café and a
sports hall. Around 1900 the railway came, if one walk the path

one pass the location of the stop. Today there are only a memorial
sign. With the train was
Torup and the beech forest a popular destination. A restaurant with a
gingerbread
house was built. Also the location of this do one pass when

In the forest are several trails for walking and jogging.
