Pictures from Skåne - Sweden - Lunds domkyrka
the cathedral in the centre of Lund since 12th century. October 14, 2012: Today is Thanksgiving and then one decorate churches with products from this year's harvest. Lund Cathedral has hired the artist Emma Karp Lundström, which makes the famous apple canvas at Kivik, to make a smaller apple canvas. It is a popular initiative. There are many who are there to see on the result, whose motives are three apple (?) Trees. Apples left over can take. It is on display until October 25. As I usually do I light a candle in the light bearer in memory of those who I have known and are not with us anymore. Outside the church give the municipality out free potato, 1 kg of from Flying region, and provide information on the city's green spaces. Kiviks Musteri sells apple blossom honey, which I can not resist buying. Christmas play 4 Dec 2010: Art School's Christmas play "a child is born in Bethlehem" with music from the Middle Ages, Renaissance and Baroque. I walk by the lilac bushes south of the Cathedral. They will be dug up, inhibited, and planted elsewhere. One wants to have a unobstracted sight from Liberiet to Kyrkogatan, now when there will be a nice vicitor centre, Domkyrkoforum. These lilacs are almost sacred in Lund, but only at this location. Their early bloom marks the arrival of spring. I would rather see the lilacs here than an unobstructed view. Inside the cathedral starts Culture School's Christmas play "A child is born in Bethlehem", with music from the Middle Ages, Renaissance and Baroque. The Culture school (Kulturskolan) gives children and young people in Lund municipality the opportunity to participate in artistic and cultural activities after school hours. There are a lot of spectators. There is singing, music, and storytelling. The star is brought in, animals walk in the procession. Camel, elephant, horse. It is a nice Christmas play. They are well worth all the applause. I light a candle in the candle bearer. I admire the nativity scene. Outside hang icicles from the roof. Link: Kulturskolan 25 Dec 2009: bikes down to the cathedral. The thaw has melted most of the snow that fell before christmas. Parts of the area around the church is roped off. From the roof has large icicles fallen down. A lone piece of ice is still waiting for the final journey. Inside it is prepared for service. The lights in the seven-branched candlestick are lit. I light a candle in the light bearer. In the crypt lies the Infant Jesus in his manger. He seems to be newborn. The light from a window is pouring down over one of the many gravestones. The service begin, then one may not walk around, I go out. Stand and study the reliefs with scenes from the Bible on the door. Have not seen them before. I want coffee. Not much that is open. I end up on Coffee Point, at Skomakaregatan. 25/12 2008: I bicycle down to Kino and see the film Ljuså of Mikael Kristersson, it is about a year in his garden in Falsterbo. A gentle and soothing film, including flowers, bees, caterpillars and butterflies, birds. The most dramatic is when the great tit throw out a dead baby, and a poor wasp which remain in the spider's web. Unfortunately, we are not many who see it. Opposite to the northeast of Kino is Lund Cathedral. After the film do I visit the Cathedral, at the entrance are two Christmas trees. I light a candle, as many other do, in memory of the dead. It is quiet music and song, probably do they practice for tonight's concert. I sit down for a while and listen. A few sit down to watch the astronomical clock play, even though it is half an hour too early. I admire the nativity scene in the great seven-branched candlestick chapel. In the crypt, where Finn and his wife (Gerda) with child (Sölve) embraces the pillars, is an exhibition of handicrafts, glass mosaic, from Bethlehem. |
