Adam and Eve
two lime kilns at Bjärsjölagård castle. The oldest from 1865. The business was closed in the 1940s.

December 25, 2011: It is Christmas Day. Adam and Eve have recently had name-day. Why not drive to them and greet them? Not to the paradise but Bjärsjölagård castle where they have given name to two lime kilns. The parking lot at the ovens is muddy, put the car at a building next to the kilns. Two ovens, built in 1865, one was destroyed by fire in the early 1900s, and was replaced with a larger oven. The business was closed down in the 1940s. Today, the ovens are alone, of the building that belonged remain the foundation. They seem to be in need for renovation. When I was here in 1997 they looked to be in better condition. The facades moulder away. On the ground around is some debris, including crushed lamps. The building stone walls must have been stout. The doorway in is blocked by barricades, the arch over seem to collapse any moment. Guess that it is the narrower higher oven which is Adam, and the lower thicker is Eve. Straps fits like a corset around her. All doors are locked with padlocks, some are barred so you can see inside. Looks spookily in there. Limestone was mined in a quarry a few hundred meters southeast of the castle. I go there.
