A few hundred meters north of Torup Castle is Askebacken. On the hill are the remains of a castle, the predecessor of today Torup Castle. Was built sometime in the 1300's, was destroyed during the Danish civil war Count's Feud 1534-36.

Walk the path at the stables to Statarmuseet. There is no signage. You should be able to walk up the slope beyond the house. But where it is fenced. Ask a couple at a house.

Going back, turn onto the road past the house before the stables. Signs with trespassing and warning dog does not deter. An illegible signpost pointing towards the hill. There is an information board.

A gate in the fence. Sheep guards the hill. A cat joins us. It guides us around among the remains. Pits and hint of foundation walls. Two rooms and a corridor.

The cat leaves us through the mesh of the fence. We use the gate.
