Along the western cemetery wall, towards the road, by Östra Herrestad's church, stands this rune stone, dated to approx. 1000 AD. When you enter through the gate to the cemetery, the runestone is slightly hidden to the west of the church tower under large trees and behind tombstones. From a distance, it can be taken as a tombstone from a later time. The stone was discovered in the 1880s in the north wall of the church. Now it stands free. The stone is hard to read on the upper part, it should be cleaned and filled in. The ornamentation is barely visible. The text reads (interpretation in the book Scanian runestones):

Brother and Toke erected this stone after Fradulf, their father, (a) very excellent "thegn".

Erected to the memory of a "thegn", who is probably a high-ranking person. There is a rain shower coming. Try to open the church door. Locked of course.
