April 6, 2013: As usual, I drive "my" country roads and takes as usual wrong turn in Östraby and end up in Starrarp instead of Långaröd, I take the gravel road past Bjälkhult to get right again. Stupid of me. Then through Önneköp, Huaröd, Östra Sönnarslöv, where I turn off to Tollarp. About halfway between the Östra Sönnarslöv and Tollarp is one of Skåne's strangest roads. In an intersection is four blocks with information about the road. Who was the builder, how long and how many yards wide it is, how many cubic yards rock and filling used, and that it was built between 1775 and 1824. Nearly 50 years, there have the tunnel through Hallandsås still plenty of time. I set the vehicle at the beginning of one of the road ramps.

The road sides are constructed of hewn stone. The highest point is a number of male heights. A strange construction for its time. Three ramps up and a road that goes uphill Linderödsåsen northern slope. Through two of the branches flows a small stream, it has got a beautiful arch. Up on the stone crest is a black stone as a contrast to the  other boulders. What kind of stone, perhaps volcanic origin? I walk the road uphill, surrounded by a beautiful valley with beech forest. At an intersection, stands a monument, the road was built by Hans Ramel Maltes son in 1795, 29 years before it was completed. Continue on up past something like a bulging bastion as a defense shield. At the road's end lies the reason for the road, Maltesholms castle.

The castle has its origin from the 1630s, the current appearance dates from the 1780s. The castle is private, but the park is open from late April to mid-October in the daytime. So I have to turn back. I sit down on a bench along the road, enjoying the sun and lunch.

The area is rich in Bronze Age tombs. Out in the fields around the road is several, there are also inside the forests around. On the way home, I have coffee in Önneköps bakery/cafe/ Thai restaurant. Easter is over, but I take a small marzipanchicken anyway, did not have any at Easter. Then drive the correct way home.
