On Ivö in lake Ivösjön was once a larger building, Ivöhus, perhaps built already in the 1100s. Archbishop Andreas Sunesson lived here during his time on the island in the 1220s. Sunesson resigned his office due to illness and retired back here. Probably he suffered from arthritis. The castle, which already existed, was converted for the purpose. In the 1600s, the palace was gone.

Today, the remains of this building is a cellar, called Bishop basement. There is a car park next to the basement. To protect the basement is a low roof built over it. In the eastern part is an entrance. The basement is supported by two pillars and arches of brick. It has meter thick walls. Small windows let in light. It's dark anyway.

Previously the basement was beneath an outbuilding and said have been used as a potato cellar. In 1927 the outbuilding was ignited by lightning and burned down. The basement was unspoiled.

Andreas Sunesson is buried in the cathedral in Lund.
