One have said that center of Skåne is at Bosjökloster's mill.
In 2009, the Scanian Academy established Scania's geographical center
(center of gravity) at the ruin after the watermill
Brännemölla in northern Höör.
After lunch at Björk's Fish by the Västra Ringsjön,
we drive to Brännemölla and the center of Skåne.
No parking, so we park on the road next door.
Brännemölla is mentioned in writing for the first time in 1570.
The mill building was built in 1779, a stone in the wall reminds of that.
Buildings existed until 2003 when they were demolished,
stone foundations remain.
In 2009, the Mittelen monument was inaugurated,
which consists of three parts: a millstone (Möllestenen),
a sculpture portal and the sun.
The sun shines through the portal on October 4 at 12 noon (winter time)
and shows exactly where the center of Scania is.
The sun is shining today, but it is summer and the center point is not
illuminated. A stream from a dam, Ankdammen or Brännemölladammen,
on the other side of the road to the north ripples past the center point.
Further away is another stream. An ice cream dessert at Hardys.
What is meant by geographic center of gravity?
Make a two-dimensional model of Skåne.
Where you can balance it on the tip of a pin is the center of gravity.
