At the northern entrance to Tjörnarp is a sign with pretzel "Tegelugn". Follow the signs, finally into a narrow paved road. At a crossing point, there is a new sign with parking for the brickyard, past a residential building and then the brickyard to the south gable where the parking lot is. A car is standing there, a family with children is walking around. They are driving soon and we have the place for ourselves.

On the north gable is a good information sign. The building is a rectangular ring kiln built in 1898. In a ring kiln, a hearth is slowly moved around between combustion chambers filled with bricks. A combustion chamber had a gate to the outside of the kiln, through which the kiln was filled or emptied by brick. On top of the kilne there were fuel hatches where fuel was supplied. The furnace was destroyed in a fire in 1958, after which the brickyard was closed down and decayed. The kiln was restored in 1993-94 and is today an interesting industrial-historical excursion destination.

On the east side is a nice birch grove. Grows some wild raspberries, ripe. Good. From the kiln remains the lower stone wall and the vault where the brick was burned. Above protects a new roof. Goes through a gate into the vault. Beautifully. Chandeliers hang from the ceiling. In the walls are small holes, for ventilation of flue gases? Even a slightly larger hole in the floor. In the eastern vault are some tools and bricks. Goes around the whole lap in the ring. Outside is a picnic table. Against the wall is a brick heap. Sitting down at the picnic table for a coffee break.

The clay for the brickyard was taken nearby, where a railway went. The clay pits have been left in peace since the brickyard was put down. Today it is a nature reserve. Located on the other side of the road from here. Going there, there is a parking lot at a treatment ponds. The clay pits are not visible in the lush greenery. It may be once in the spring.

Drive home through Tjörnarp. Many nice houses that look abandoned and dilapidated. Many well maintained as well.
