Lund-Kulturen-Photo album

Cultural Association of Southern Sweden with the world's second oldest open-air museum, and the White House with conventional museum exhibitions, temporary and permanent exhibitions.

February 4, 2012: The exhibition Strindberg and photography.
It is 100 years since August Strindberg (1849-1912) died, one of Sweden's most important writers and playwrights. On Kulteren is 22/1 - 22/3 2012 the exhibition Strindberg and photography in Allmogehallen. Showing his photographic experiments, divided into separate sections, such as his self-portraits from the stay in Gersau in Switzerland, the pictures of him, children, wives, among others. He built a "Wunderkamera", one meter long with no lens that he took not so successful pictures. The exposure time was 6 minutes, one had to sit still. Celestografier, photographs without a camera, the plates were at night put on the ground and exposed for a few minutes, and gave according to Strindberg the correct picture of the sky. Would not go in this enlightened age, one have to look for a dark place, He also took what I think is less good pictures of clouds "where powerful beings live," he was prone to the spiritual. He himself lived in Lund 1896-1899. He is said to have courted one of his wives with "Do you want to have a child with me?", She said yes. Maybe I should have tried the same? For Strindberg the result was a child of the marriage proposal, but also a short marriage. In all, a rather interesting exhibition with a lesser known side of Strindberg.

Inspired by the self-portraits, I take my own self-portrait to my collection of self portraits. Now it's coffee time. Since a while Kulturen has a cafe inside the area. When paying the entrance feee one got a coffee ticket, valid for tea as well. Tea and a mazarin bun. Find a free table, it's been a lot of people today, almost closing time, the plates are empty. Notice when leaving that there is one more room.

2/1 2011: A Christmassy walking in the open air museum.
Despite many years in Lund, I have not walked around among the houses. Pays 90: - in the entry. A man warns that the paths are slippery. They are, but the snow makes it decorative. Beginning in Herrehuset, where I study porcelain and pottery. Dean Hall, where it is so slippery, I dare not go there. Seems to be closed anyway. Go instead to the University Museum. In front of it is a small house for small beings. The museum shows how the knowledge has thrived and developed at the university, that dominates Lund, beginning with the keys and the scepter from the opening in the 1600s. In the same stand are skeletal remains of victims of the Battle of Lund. The University logo contains book and sword. A fun visit, in any case if, as I am related to the university. Relation has also Rustmästarbostaden, called the house of sins after a student murder that took place in the house. Next stop is the exhibition of folk art and design, go into the Ystadhuset. Pedal cars there are those who have today as well. Wedding outfits, you can try headgear. I look ridiculous, best to remain unmarried. In Blekinge farm lived a wealthy peasant family in the early 1800s. Here is their Christmas table. Arbetarbostaden shows a working-class living from the 1930s. Here is it decorated for christmas. The christmas tree has electric light and one have radio. Borgarhuset shows the interior of a middle-class from 1500 to 1900. From simple wooden furniture to elegant. In Thomanderska huset is it Christmas Eve in 1849 at Professor Thomanders. The dining room is the table laid for christmas. Västra Vram rectory has a new practice, a small Christmas tree, it's 1820 or so. It succumbed to a Småland christmas. In Allmogehallen is Mäsingestugan, a Scanian peasant's cottage, it also has an abundant Christmas. On the lower floor of the is Allmogehallen an exhibition of fishing in southern Sweden.

Now for something completely different. In Lundahallen is an ongoing exhibition of furniture designer Åke Axelsson. Simple, beautiful, and functional furniture for the private and official. Some look pretty uncomfortable out. Closing Time. Culture restaurant also close. Want coffee, take a cappuccino at Nesta at Västra Mårtensgatan.
