Pictures from Skåne - Sweden - Flyinge kungsgård

Open house at Flyinge national stud of Sweden, with the Christmas Fair.
6 December 2009: My dear bike has broken down, and I had to buy a new bike, a Skeppshult. An environmentally friendly means of transport. Test it by bicycle to Flyinge. I make a halt at the bakery in Flyinge, where I buy a small cake. Continue to Flyinge kungsgård. Stud and There is an open house at the stud and Christmas  Fair. I ask the parking attendant where there is a bicycle stand. She becomes a big question mark. It's probably not normal to bicycle here. Cars come in a steady stream. I put my bicycle by a fence.

Looking into the store horse and rider. Know nothing about horses, but it seems well-stocked. Buy a postcard. Go to the Education Building, a stone building, where it is Christmas Fair. A cat are considering whether to enter, 25 - is too expensive for it, but not for me. I wander around the typical Christmas market stalls, including homemade candles. A woman sells homemade chocolates. I'm weak for women and chocolate. Purchase two chocolates, mulled wine and sea buckthorn. On Kastanjegården in front of the Chief's house, it is pony riding for the children. Go to the carriage barn, with carriages from the 1800s, including a hearse. Walk round among stables, horses are sticking theid heads out, who are you? In the stable paths is their food. A few horses may are out on the fields on a day like today.

I am hungry and go to the restaurant in the large indoor arena. I eat lunch overlooking the arena where the horse show will be at three o'clock. Continue my wandering round. Many take the opportunity to  ride a carriage. A big dog enjoy the ride. I make a visit in the smithy. A variety of horseshoes are hanging on a wall. A girl tells me about how to make a horseshoe. Slips into the horse clinic. Look at the stallion sperm under a microscope, they are looking frantically for an egg. In the room stands a mare dummy. Strangely become excited by a dummy, perhaps not, we've the inflatable Barbara. Sorry for the mare who does not get any of the fun. In the stallion stables are handsome harness parade. Stallions get food, birds are waiting to take their share of the feed. In the Crafoord Hall, I watch the students dressed in some fantastic costumes, the are training ride their horses. Later I learn that they participated in the show with the themes from The Lion King.

Soon, three, am in the restaurant and look down into the arena, where the show starts soon. I have time to see Arne Weise (known from swedish TV) to enter with horse and carriage before the restaurant closes, and I have to go out. I ride my bike home at dusk. At home I enjoy the chocolates, cognac, and a cup of coffee.
