November 7, 2019:
Just a few pictures from an autumn walk.
25 October 2009: I put the
cycle at the northeastern entrance to the North Cemetery in Lund,
beside the Sophia grill. A long time ago I was should meet a woman at
the 'grill'. What I did not know was that the crematorium behind St.
Olaf's chapel on the other side of the cemetery is in the popular named
the 'grill'. Not good.
It is a beautiful cemetery. Begin my round at a deeply red tree.
Continue to the small pond. Stand and admire the leaves formations on
the water surface. Two women come and wonder if I'm looking for the
fish. "Fish?". "There!" pointing one of them. In this little pond swim
small fishes. The women leave. A young woman come, and looks down into
the pond searching for something. "There!" I say, pointing at the fish,
I can impress her with my newfound knowledge. She takes some pictures
and leave.
It's raining light, golden yellow leaves sway in the air on their way
down to recycling. Hedges are tastefully decorated. Paths are lined
with autumn trees. I get to think about my funeral. A large monument?
No, too much and large. A small grave? Oh, nobody wants to take care of
it. I go to the memorial grove. For anonymous. Continues to the ash
grave place. Why not? A small stone with my name and year, no
maintenance. It is hopefully not an issue for a while.
Many well known, in Lund at least, are buried here, I leave them for
another visit. Sit down on a bench, among all the yellow, with my
coffee and my croissant. I bike home.
